Accounts Payable - Victoria

Accounts Payable – Victoria F/T

The primary focus of the Accounts Payable team member is to process payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.  This includes ensuring all vendor invoices are checked for accuracy, all discounts are taken, payments are timely and that the Monk item and cost database is accurate prior to processing payment.

 What you will do:

  • Assemble, review and verify invoices and cheque requests
  • Prepare invoices for payment
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices
  • Enter invoices into system
  • Prepare and perform cheque runs
  • Post transactions to journals/ledgers
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Produce monthly reports
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Maintain accurate historical records
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information

What you will bring:

Education:

  • A senior secondary education or equivalent on the job training

In this role, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising day to day operations in-store and acting in the Store Leader’s capacity in their absence

Finance Leader - Victoria

Finance Leader – Victoria F/T

The primary focus of the Finance Leader role is to accurately and efficiently complete all aspects of day-to-day accounting functionality that keep the business informed and moving forward.  This position provides information to make critical business decisions.  Success in the role will be measured by timely financial reporting including business analytics and bringing forward opportunities for improvement.  This role is pivotal to the success of the Finance department and as such is cross-trained and provides direction and leadership for all team positions (Payroll, AP, AR & Assistant duties).

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership and direction to all Finance team members (Payroll, AP, AR, Accounting Assistant)
  • Prepare monthly financial results with analysis
  • General ledger
  • Accurate completion and delivery of financial information on a timely basis
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and systems enhancement
  • Manage the accurate, reliable, and timely reporting for all reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Communicate with the Monk Office team on accounting processing requirements, financial inquiries, and internal control requirements
  • Preparation of year-end accounting
  • Preparation of required reporting to financial institutions
  • Participate in development of Business intelligence and Analytics
  • Prepare project, performance, sales, CRM, trend, business and other reports
  • Duties and projects as required by Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable or Sales

  • Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures
  • Dress and conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner

What you will bring:

Education:

  • An accredited accounting designation

Skills:

  • Tech savvy with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (V-lookup, pivot tables, etc)
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of attention to detail, forward thinking and success
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible accounting roles, including leadership of a finance / accounting team
  • Team leadership and supervision experience
