Jr. Interior Designer (12-18m contract)

Schedule: Part-time | Location: Victoria (3335 Oak St.)

The primary focus of the role will be to help our Sales Team grow business through furniture sales to existing, and/or new Monk Office customers. This will be achieved through a collaborative, creative, motivated, and professional approach to providing furniture solutions and services.  The focus of the role is help create beautiful spaces and align with each customer’s goals and budgets.  The successful candidate will be an integral part of the project team and will be responsible for pre-sale interior design packages and design plans.  The goal is to use your talent and experience to make recommendations on how we can enhance their business with comprehensive furniture solutions and space planning.

What you will bring:

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma in Interior Design, or 2 years interior design and/or space planning
  • AutoCAD and other industry-based software applications

Skills:

  • General knowledge of commercial and systems furniture
  • Organized and focused
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently
  • Collaborative and excellent teamwork
  • Keen eye for detail
  • AutoCAD and other industry focused software applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

*Drivers License required (at least class N)*

What you will do:

The junior interior designer will be involved with multiple projects and helps represent Monk with the client. The junior interior designer role involves design execution and will be responsible for design continuity, advocacy and professionalism through all stages of the project.

  • Space planning and rendering
  • Assist in the creation of design presentations to the client, as well as documentation packages for presentations and contract documents
  • Maintaining our sample library/design space
  • Attending site visits, sometimes requiring travel out of town
  • Review documents and drawings for accuracy and design intent
  • Assist in the review and preparation of technical specifications
  • Additional Responsibilities – Develop and implement design concepts, 3D Modeling, Renderings, etc.
  • Experience in materials and furnishings selection
  • Experience building, nurturing and fostering client relationships
